Hypnotism

Posted By admin on May 10th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/05/hypnotism/

Hypnotism is the act of hypnosis itself; the person inducing hypnosis is therefore called as a hypnotist. This person has the ability to alter consciousness either of someone else’s or his own self. Hypnosis is also used for therapeutic purposes when needed. Hypnotherapy is applied to alleviate pain or for treating long-standing addiction such as alcoholism, drug addiction and cigarette smoking.

When a person is in a hypnotic state, he or she is open to suggestions. It is when your mind enters an altered state of consciousness similar to going in a trance or zoning out. Within this state, your body is unbelievably relaxed and you are less critical of the things around you; the mind is now free of clutter and distractions making you able to focus on things you need to do. Being chased in a dream – Running from ourselves

Posted By admin on February 22nd, 2009

Your heart beat is going faster by every minute, causing you to breathe harder. It’s so cold that every breathe you take is like swallowing broken glass. All of a sudden you see it, a light. It’s dim, and fuzzy, like a candle just before the flame takes its last blaze. You start to realize that you have been running this whole time; your mind has blocked out that you were even running, because you were just so cold, seeking any type of light that would save you from the darkness.

Psyche- Goddess of the Soul

Posted By admin on February 5th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/psyche-goddess-of-the-soul/

Psyche in ancient Greek mythology was Cupid’s (Eros) wife. She was the youngest daughter of the King of Sicily and was the most beautiful woman on the island. Men flocked to her side asking for her hand in marriage. Venus got jealous of her beauty and commanded her son Cupid to make Eros fall in love with the ugliest creature he could find. But even Cupid succumbed to Psyche’s beauty and fell in love with her and married her.

Psyche’s story is the personification of the passion of love. The Greeks believed that the soul or psyche was responsible for behavior. In psychology, the psyche is one’s conception of the self. It encompasses the modern idea of the soul, self and the mind and how these affect the way we think and behave.
