Edgar Cayce- The Sleeping Prophet

Edgar Cayce was an American psychic who gained world recognition with his ability to answer “questions” while in a self-induced trance.   His prominence came late in his life when his prophecies overshadowed his original focus was which was healing and theology.

Cayce was born in a small rural town in Kentucky to a farmer and his wife.  Even as a young child, Cayce was a devout Christian and read his bible everyday and taught Sunday School.  He and his father formed a partnership to sell insurance but was struck with laryngitis.  He later decided to shift to photography as this profession was not as straining to his voice.

Edgar Cayce

Edgar Cayce was an American Psychic.  He was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky in 1877 to a farming couple.  When he was about to enter the 9th grade his education had to be stopped because his family could not afford to send him to school anymore.  Cayce considered himself to be a devout Christian and was a member of the Followers of Christ.  He read the bible everyday, taught Sunday school and recruited missionaries for the organization.

Cayce discovered his gift when he was struck by laryngitis while selling insurance.  His inability to speak resulted in him having to live with his parents for over a year.  During this time, he decided to study photography as this occupation allowed him to conserve his voice.
