Some people think that they dream in black and white.  While it may be true that people only remember their black and white dreams, we actually dream in color.  Dreams are sometimes likened to motion pictures where there are more memorable parts than the rest.  Here are a few common interpretations about colors in our dreams.

Black typically represents mystery, the unknown, uncertainty, death hate or malice.  However if you feel happy while dreaming about the color black then this may come to mean some happiness after a lot of grief or triumph after some trials.  Black is also usually associated with depression or sadness.

Some Dream Tidbit

Posted By admin on June 22nd, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/06/some-dream-tidbit/

People have always been fascinated with dreams.  In fact during the Roman Era, dreams of the senators were submitted on to the senate for interpretation!  Some people say that dreams are our connection to the other side.  Even popular psychologists like Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung are convinced that dreams are interesting and are a road map as to how our psyche works.  Dreams are interesting indeed.  So here are a few fun and interesting dream tidbits that you may find useful.

1.    Everybody dreams!  Even if you do not remember the dream when you wake up.  A lack of dreams can be a problem since it may signal a protein deficiency or a personality disorder.
2.    Statistics show that 1/3 of your life is spent sleeping and in an average lifetime, your dreams will total to 6 years when added together!  This means that you will spend 2100 days in another dimension or realm.
3.    In a night, we dream for an average of up to 2 hours with 4-7 different dreams.
4.    Even blind people dream.  Whether or not they actually see something in their dreams are determined whether thy were born blind or became blind later in life.  However, blind people can dream about sensation, sounds and even smell as dreams constitutes not only the vision.
5.    Studies have shown that our brain waves are more active during REM sleep than when we are awake.  People who wake up suddenly during a REM sleep tend to recall their dreams more vividly than those who sleep through the night.
6.    50% of dreams are lost after 5 minutes of waking up and 90% after 10 minutes, which is probably why most of us forget our dreams right away.
7.    Men tend to dream about other men most of the time while women dream about other women and men equally.
8.    Research has shown that most men experience erections during their sleep while women also show an increase in blood flow to the vagina, whether dreams are erotic or not.  This means that “wet dreams” may not be directly related to overly sexual content.
9.    Toddlers do not dream about themselves.  They start appearing in their dreams at about 3-4 years old.  Nightmares also occur more frequently during childhood, usually at around 3 years old till 8.
10.    Smokers who are quitting tend to have more intense and vivid dreams.  And people do not dream while they snore.

Dream Interpretation- Sex

Posted By admin on April 23rd, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/04/dream-interpretation-sex/

Men and women both dream about sex.  Sexual dreams have fascinated psychologists for centuries.  Sigmund Freud, a very well known proponent of Dream Psychology, sees our dreams not only as a road map as to how we really feel but as a symbol of our repressed sexual feelings.

Freud sees containers as representation of the vagina.  A jar, a box or even a room may come to connote the vagina.  A stick on the other hand is an example of a phallic symbol.  Knives, pencils or nail files are representations of the penis.

Dream Interpretation- Flowers

Posted By admin on April 22nd, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/04/dream-interpretation-flowers/

Flowers are symbols of our spiritual and emotional health.  When dreaming about flowers, pay close attention to what the flower looks like.  Is it healthy and blooming, faded, wilted, does it need water?  Bright and healthy looking flowers mean that our spiritual and emotional needs are met and are being satisfied.  Wilted or faded flowers mean that our soul is thirsting for attention or maybe we need to pay attention to our spiritual or emotional side.

A healthy bunch of flowers mean that there is an abundance in our life.  This abundance may be in our professional, personal or spiritual side.  Dreams about a lot of flowers also connote creativity.  It may mean that you are about to enter a period of creative thoughts and ideas or physical fertility.

Dream Interpretation- Shoes

Posted By admin on April 21st, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/04/dream-interpretation-shoes/

Dream interpreters have different interpretations when shoes are present in our dreams.  Some interpreters suggest that shoes in dreams mean that we are thinking about our love life.  When dreaming about trying on different pairs of shoes then this probably means that we are unsure bout our partners or the direction our love life is headed.

Did you dream about yourself wearing a weird pair of shoes? This suggest that our inner self is in conflict about the direction of our lives.  Shoes are seen as our means of going from point A to point B so weird pairs of shoes mean that there are unresolved issues regarding where you want your life to lead you.

The current state of the US economy may have affected your dreams.  Well, this is hardly surprising since money matters may be the foremost thought in our minds.

Dream interpreters have several interpretations of money in our dreams.  Dreaming about money does not automatically mean you need or lack money.  Dream interpreters see money as a symbol for sexuality.  Dreaming about money often indicates your quest for love or power.  If you dream that you are winning money this means that success is within your reach.  It symbolizes self-confidence and self-worth.
