In most cultures, a snake is one of the most dreaded creatures in both waking life and in dreams. However, in some traditions, like Hinduism, it is considered divine and is worshiped. Yet other cultures, like the Chinese, associate snakes with wisdom and transformation. Dream psychology, accordingly, interprets the appearance of snakes in dreams differently, according to the culture, traditions, and/or symbolic meanings of subconscious forces.

In western (Judeo-Christian-Islamic) traditions, snake is generally a symbol of evil or Satan – an enemy of mankind. This also holds for dreaming of a snake, though dream interpretations vary according to the actual dreaming sequence or the dreamer’s role in relation to the snake. Watching a snake chasing you would mean an enemy machinating against you, in real life, possibly for inflicting bodily harm. Many snakes together, in a group or pit, indicate bad luck in professional and/or personal life. Similarly, if a dreamer sees him/herself killing a threatening snake, it points to victory or dominance over the enemy or adversary in real life.

Dream meanings change, often extending to personal characteristics, in eastern cultures. In Chinese traditions, those born in the year of the snake are considered wise, usually owning hidden wisdom, and having a snake in dream may be symbolic of wisdom. A snake bite in a dream, accordingly, means injection of wisdom – a good sign for the dreamer. At the same time, this newly acquired wisdom is also considered as a means of potential transformation. Since snakes are known for shedding their skin (slough) and assuming a new appearance, snake bite in a dream translates into transformation of one’s self out of the old, worn out, or dysfunctional aspects of one’s personality.

Eastern thought and traditions, mainly the Indian and Chinese, have been preoccupied with cosmic energy that flows through the universe manifesting in humans as psychic energy. A significant part of this psychic energy is subconscious and needs to be called into action to unlock one’s true potential. This is just what snakes stand for in dream interpretations in eastern traditions. Seeing a snake is a call for stirring your hidden psychic energies to control your destiny. If, in a dream, a snake is seen sloughing, the dream is a clear call for shaking your inactive/paralyzed energies out of dormancy.

The symbolic worth of snake also applies to one’s sexual life. As snake trying to get into physical proximity in a non-threatening manner in dream is usually interpreted as the sexual interest of the dreamer. If one feels repulsion by such a scene in the dream, the dream is taken as indicative of sexual dissatisfaction. A snake biting the dreamer and then withering or dying may signify male orgasm.

The element of fear and anxiety is also widely associated with snakes. Like in real life, snakes in dreams symbolize a threat, worry, or problem that is haunting one’s peace. The appearance of snake in dreams, especially if it happens repetitively, therefore always carries an important message – that you have an important issue to take care of in your life.

Ghosts are believed to be spirits or souls of dead people who are yet to experience heaven or hell. For reasons unknown, experts believe that these souls stayed behind long after the body is laid to rest and they are unable to move forward to where they must belong now. Experts believed that some of the reasons why lost souls stayed behind are:

· The dead person might not be aware of his current situation and has been living his life still by doing his everyday routine without interference. This usually happens when the person experienced sudden death for which he was not fully aware. An example of sudden death is when a person died while asleep.
· Unfinished business can also be a reason why a ghost preferred to stay behind. It was believed that every person has his own mission to do in his lifetime. Not finishing it will only make the soul restless and unable to move on.
· Strong association to the place or things will hinder a ghost’s ability to move on especially if these are their priceless possessions or if the place played a significant role in their once-lived lives. This explains why ghosts manifest in their old houses or even in places of their deaths.
· Others believed that some ghosts even refuse to move on since they fear they will meet hell due to wrongdoings they committed while alive.
· Asian cultures have it that ghosts of loved-ones will manifest if a person is nearing death himself. This belief happens when a dying person is supposedly fetched by his loved-one so the dying person’s soul won’t have to be alone during his journey to after life.

Angels are believed to be messengers of God. Time and again they’re sent to Earth when God needs something to be done by a mortal. They also come when they need to rely messages from God and guide that person to stay on the right path as well. They are God’s right hand, His bodyguard and His overall assistant.

According to the Holy Bible, an angel manifested before Mary, the mother of God’s Son Jesus, to notify her of an anticipated pregnancy even if she’s a virgin. All throughout the history, angels are known to exist in various religions from Islam to Hinduism. Of course, each religion has their own views regarding the existence and value of an angel and how they affect our lives. On the other hand, old wives’ tale has it that angels are assigned each time a baby is born. They’re sent to keep the baby safe and secure until he can fully do things on his own. These angels are then called as our guardian angels.

This notion, coupled with a little adjustments here and there, is what angel therapy is supposed to be. In angel therapy, angels are believed to stay with us for the whole duration of our lives keeping us safe and guiding us on decisions we need to make. They save us from potholes in life we tend to overlook sometimes. This type of therapy is considered as New Age therapy which equates angels to healing. Participants are encouraged to hear and recognize signs from their guardian angels. Angel therapists believe that this is the only way to successfully achieve a greater quality of life.

Demons are the exact opposite of angels and they are usually present in religion, folklore and mythology. They are supernatural beings and they are generally described as deceiving, malevolent spirits.

In Greek mythology, demons are used and applied referring to a God or Goddess but generally, it was referred to as a force or spirit that comes between gods and human. Overtime, it gathered negative connotations and therefore settled to becoming associated with devils and the likes. Both demons and devils are considered as evil spirits and fallen angels of God and they are usually mistaken for one another although they are quite different in meaning and definition.

In Christianity where demons are fixed characters as well as key role players, demons are not just malevolent spirits but they are sent from hell to enforce evil missions and convert human beings from believing God to non-believers. They are deceptive beings and they can switch into undetectable forms, often creating scenarios that will compel a human being to doing evil things.

It was said that demons have their own limitations therefore they are not invincible. They can be defeated with faith and according to the Christian bible, demons like Satan himself cannot read a person’s mind but they have mastered the predictability of the human nature which they use to play games with humans. Apparently, they are free to roam the world and they are not confined to four corners of hell.

According to Carl Jung, demons belong to the Jungian archetype the trickster which is an important archetype in the history of man.

Prophetic Dreams are dreams which are said to foretell the future. Dream Psychologists say that all of us have an “antenna” which warns us about future events. We can either “tune out” this antenna or listen to it.

There are countless accounts of people who have had prophetic dreams. Indeed even during early Christian times, God communicated to His people by ways of dreams. These prophesies are well documented in the bible. Both Queen Maya dreamed that she would become the mother of Buddha and Mary dreamed that she would become the mother of Christ.

The most common type of prophetic dreams are dreams about death. Accounts of people dreaming about dead of dying relatives or friends are well documented.

There are also symbolisms hidden in dreams which are said to be “warnings” These vary from culture to culture.

Do you believe in angels? I do. Angels have very powerful impact on us humans. Different religions may have their own beliefs and gods but they all believe that angels do exist. With Christianity, Judaism and Islam, angels are considered messengers of God and they are highly regarded. Other cultures believe that angels are God’s warrior and for kids, they are simply “guardian angels”, their best friend.

The simplest, most sensible explanation for angels is that they are spiritual beings created by God to serve Him. They deliver His messages and watch over us round the clock. They don’t interfere with our free will, they just let us be. In times when we are straying from our Earth’s purpose, they will call on us and will get us back on track. This is because one wrong action from us will greatly affect other people’s lives, no matter how small it seemed.
