We know that somewhere in between dreaming and reality, there’s bound to be a connection somewhere, although all points seem to be leading to dead-ends. To date, there is no existing, hard evidence or explanation on how dreams really work but indeed different cultures got their own views and beliefs on why they exist and how they can help the dreamer improve their way of living.

That’s one thing I like about dreaming. If you take a look and study how experts conclude the dreaming process, it’s always on the bright and positive side of things. If it is viewed as an omen or portent of bad things to come, it is deemed to be taken as a warning so that the dreamer can prepare for it, if not avoid the threatening danger. Because of these, dreams eventually are valued and appreciated, never shunned.

In Chinese tradition, dreams are viewed as same. In fact, they’re used to diagnose a bad organ inside the body but unlike typical dream interpretation, it doesn’t use symbols but instead takes note of the emotions felt during the dreams. It will also help if your dream is a recurring one just so you know it’s not only a product of your subconscious mind. Here are some basic interpretations for dreams in traditional Chinese medicine:

· Anger. This very negative feeling is brought about by hardening of the liver or gallstones can be forming right at that very moment.
· Sadness. When you feel sad and lonely, better have your heart and lungs checked.
· Fear. Fearful dreams usually represent anxiety but it can also warn you about your current heart and liver status.
· Happiness. Feeling happy, contented and fulfilled in your dreams are representations that your body is not under stress in any way.
· Striving hard. It means your body is not properly digesting the food you eat hence indigestion.

Ghosts are believed to be spirits or souls of dead people who are yet to experience heaven or hell. For reasons unknown, experts believe that these souls stayed behind long after the body is laid to rest and they are unable to move forward to where they must belong now. Experts believed that some of the reasons why lost souls stayed behind are:

· The dead person might not be aware of his current situation and has been living his life still by doing his everyday routine without interference. This usually happens when the person experienced sudden death for which he was not fully aware. An example of sudden death is when a person died while asleep.
· Unfinished business can also be a reason why a ghost preferred to stay behind. It was believed that every person has his own mission to do in his lifetime. Not finishing it will only make the soul restless and unable to move on.
· Strong association to the place or things will hinder a ghost’s ability to move on especially if these are their priceless possessions or if the place played a significant role in their once-lived lives. This explains why ghosts manifest in their old houses or even in places of their deaths.
· Others believed that some ghosts even refuse to move on since they fear they will meet hell due to wrongdoings they committed while alive.
· Asian cultures have it that ghosts of loved-ones will manifest if a person is nearing death himself. This belief happens when a dying person is supposedly fetched by his loved-one so the dying person’s soul won’t have to be alone during his journey to after life.

Horoscopes are predictions of our future based on the positions of planets in relation to other astrological manifestations. It is a Greek word meaning “a look at the hours” while in Latin, it means “observer of the hour”. When used in astrology, it pertains to the chart or diagram which represents the position of astrological bodies. On the other hand, due to the nature of which it is used, the term horoscope now refers to as the astrologers’ prediction itself.

The most common form of horoscope we know today is the one which relies on the sun’s placement in accordance to one’s birthdate. Through which, the astrologer’s predictions are generally based on “star signs” for a certain group of people, or at least the closest estimation of which. In general, there are twelve sets which people are grouped together according to their birthdates. These twelve sets correspond to the twelve Zodiac signs we’re all familiar of. Naturally, every person belongs to one sign but there are some who were born in between signs hence they are considered in cusp. When you’re in a cusp, you enjoy a little bit of both signs or so it seems.

Short horoscopes are commonly found in newspapers, magazines and even the internet because of its popularity but they are not to be taken seriously because they are much generalized for the reading public. In order for astrology to work–or closely predict the future–there are a number of factors that should be considered like the exact hour the person was born, year and the exact birthdate. These are not taken into consideration with your common horoscope found in prints. If you are interested in knowing your horoscope to the fullest extent, it is best to consult a professional astrologer.

When we have animals in our dreams it’s usually about our pets. However it is not uncommon to dream about an animal that is not your pet or may not even be a pet. Here are some interpretations for some of the not so common animals we may have seen in our dreams.

Alligator- alligators are said to be symbols of treachery, deceit and hidden instincts. However alligators can also mean healing powers and qualities.

Apes symbolize deception, mischievousness and falsehood. Apes also symbolize our wild inner sexual natures.

Bats have several different interpretations. Some believe that bats are bad omens. A bat can mean lack of cleanliness, demons and annoyances. A white bat means that a family member is going to die while a black bat signifies personal disaster. The Chinese however believe that dreaming of 5 bats is good luck. They feel that 5 bats mean good health, longevity, good fortune, prosperity and happiness.

A crocodile signifies hidden strength and power. To dream about crocodiles means that you have to beware of people who want to bad advice and sway you into making bad decisions.

A dragon can mean your passion. People who dream about dragons are said to be easily carried away by their passion and so they have to exercise self control. If you dream about a fire breathing dragon then dream interpreters say that you are using anger to get your own way. The Chinese see the dragon as a symbol of good luck and fortune.

Elephants in your dreams mean that you need to be patient with somebody. Dream interpreters also ask the dreamer to examine their personality as the elephant’s introverted personality can be reflective of their own. Elephants also signify hidden strength and power.

The horse symbolizes strong physical energy. The horse is the symbol for virility, sensuality and sexual prowess. This is why people who dream of riding horses are advised to examine their sex lives or lack of one. To dream of a dead horse might mean that you will need to reexamine your relationship with another person.

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice prevalent in Asian countries then and now. This Chinese custom is well respected and has followers especially around Chinese communities worldwide. In a person’s point of view, this is creating an arrangement, in and out of the home to make way for good luck and prevent bad luck from coming in. Good qi or good energy flow is encouraged believing that in doing so, it will improve the lives of the dwellers.

Feng Shui is heavily dependent on the Chinese compass for proper placement of your furniture, objects and rooms in the house. The Chinese compass is more or less, similar to a regular compass which directs the person using it to locate North, East, South and West respectively except that, a traditional Chinese compass or a luopan is embedded with formulas needed to conduct Feng Shui. That, aside from other functionalities a loupan has. Feng Shui’s number one goal is to invite good vibes and drive away the bad ones.

There are five main elements in a Feng Shui practice. These are metal, water, wood, earth and fire. According to yin-yang belief, everything should be in perfect balance thus your home will be thoroughly assessed according to the materials used in making your house as well. Feng Shui is a very vast concept that needs to be studied properly. Due to many posers and claimers existing everyday, the art of Feng Shui is now lost in translation and sadly, it is frowned upon by many.

Dreams and the meaning of dreams have been debated about for centuries. Some say that dreams are merely a replay of our experiences during the day. While others insist that dreams have hidden meanings that need to be interpreted.

All of us experience dreams. These occur during the R.E.M (rapid eye movement) part of our sleep. These last for a few seconds wherein our brains are awake and not really awake. Because of this, there are some parts that we can vividly recall and some we forget.

The meanings behind dreams vary from culture to culture. In the Philippines for example, it is considered unlucky when you dream about your teeth falling off. This is said to be a sign that some one close to you will die. When your dreams feature snakes or a snake striking you, they say that someone is jealous of you. And when you dream about dead ancestors warning you, you should heed these as omens of impending disasters.

An American dream dictionary on the other hand states that a snake striking means someone is plotting against you, and that killing it means victory. The Chinese on the other hand, see the snake as a sign of good luck and good fortune.

Whatever the meaning of dreams are, it should be noted that most of us dream about things that we think about often or those that bother us. They may have meanings or they may simply symbolize thing we long for or want. So maybe we should pay attention to our dreams because they may tell us how we truly feel about something or someone.
