Astrology

Posted By admin on April 10th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/04/astrology/

Astrology by definition is the study of positions and movements of astronomical bodies in relation to how it affects all events on Earth; past, present and future. Astrologers believe that celestial bodies directly influence all natural occurrences we experience on Earth, either individually or collectively. Studies are made to help us predict future events that may affect how we conduct our daily living thus we come fully prepared for it.

Someone who practices the art of astrology is then called an astrologist or astrologer. He or she is consulted for forecasts, predictions, birth charts, compatibility and for better understanding of one’s self. An astrologist will derive his readings through time of events such as date and time of birth.

Talisman

Posted By admin on April 10th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/04/talisman/

The word talisman is derived from the Arabic word talism which means “to initiate into the mysteries”. Talismans are closely related to amulet which is derived from the Latin word amuletum or “an object that protects a person from trouble”. These words are so close– they are synonymous from each other.

Talismans are objects believed to repel bad vibes. It can also protect the person wearing amulets against diseases and evil. Talismans can be in forms of gems, stones, pendants, jewelries, statuettes, and trinkets but mostly, they are necklaces hung around the neck close to the core center of one’s body which in fact, many believe that this is where the powerful natural energy of the human body comes from.

What is Mysticism?

Posted By admin on February 24th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/what-is-mysticism/

Mysticism comes from the Greek word “mystikos” meaning to conceal.  Mysticism is the pursuit of a higher level of devotion or meaning to the ordinary allegorical interpretations of religious practices.  Mysticism can be found not only in a lot of religions but also in psychic activities or paranormal activities.  “Mystikos” is the origin of the word mystery or mysterious.

The term mysticism is used to denote beliefs or practices which go beyond the mainstream by seeking inner esoteric means of the conventional.  Kabbalah for example is a mystic form of Judaism which seeks to amplify and seek the hidden meaning of the scriptures in the Torah.

The Great Mother

Posted By admin on February 23rd, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/the-great-mother/

Carl Jung defines the Great Mother as a significant archetype of an energy-laden image we hold in our psyche, as our mother being our first experience in this world when we were in her womb.  It was through her that we experienced or first sounds, it was her breasts where we first got nourishment, her arms that first held us, and her voice that sung us to sleep.

Jung said our experiences with our mothers are our first formative ones.  Later on these experiences will manifest itself on how we treat other women, other people in general, life as a whole and to some extent, our own bodies.

Dream catchers are handmade objects of willow hoop and woven with net to form a web. It is decorated with feather and beads and it originated from Ojibwa Nation. It used to be a symbol of unity for Indian nations.

Original dream catchers are made from willow and sinew and they are not made to last for a long time, unlike the ones that are commercially made. It should hang above children’s bed to protect them from night terrors and nightmares. It is said that it should be hung directly above the sleeping person because the dream catcher catches bad dreams and allows only good dreams to go through then let it slide down the feathers to the sleeping person underneath. Prophetic Dreams

Posted By admin on February 12th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/prophetic-dreams/

Prophetic Dreams are dreams which are said to foretell the future.  Dream Psychologists say that all of us have an “antenna” which warns us about future events.  We can either “tune out” this antenna or listen to it.

There are countless accounts of people who have had prophetic dreams.  Indeed even during early Christian times, God communicated to His people by ways of dreams.  These prophesies are well documented in the bible.  Both Queen Maya dreamed that she would become the mother of Buddha and Mary dreamed that she would become the mother of Christ.

Healing Dreams

Posted By admin on February 12th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/healing-dreams/

Healing Dreams are just what the phrase connotes.  Dream Psychologists say that these types of dreams are the mind’s way of communicating to the body that it needs healing.  The origin of this type of dream dates back to Ancient Greece when sick persons spent the night in the temple of Aeslepius, the healing God.  If the Gods chose to intercede, dreams were sent to the patient via the God Hypnos (God of Sleep).  The dreams are then interpreted by a therapute (where the word therapist came from) and then a diagnosis is made.

The practice of interpreting healing dreams is not limited to the Ancient Greeks.  The Chinese and the Hindus also believe that dreams contain messages regarding our health.  The Chinese have identified certain symbols in dreams which they say identify which part of the body needs healing.   A bad dream generally means serious diseases or illnesses and normal dreams connote good health or recovery.

Epic Dreams

Posted By admin on February 12th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/epic-dreams/

Epic dreams are vivid dreams which sometimes recur.  These dreams are said to be “breakthrough” or “inspirational” dreams which compel the dreamer.  These are also called Cosmic Dreams.

There have been accounts of people who have had Epic dreams.  They say that when they experienced this dream it was just too “psychedelic for words”.  Indeed epic dreams are hard to define but dream psychologists advice the dreamer to take note of the elements of these dreams as they can have hidden meanings which can be interpreted.

I Believe In Angels

Posted By admin on February 10th, 2009

http://www.dreamsemantics.com/2009/02/i-believe-in-angels/

Do you believe in angels? I do. Angels have very powerful impact on us humans. Different religions may have their own beliefs and gods but they all believe that angels do exist. With Christianity, Judaism and Islam, angels are considered messengers of God and they are highly regarded. Other cultures believe that angels are God’s warrior and for kids, they are simply “guardian angels”, their best friend.

The simplest, most sensible explanation for angels is that they are spiritual beings created by God to serve Him. They deliver His messages and watch over us round the clock. They don’t interfere with our free will, they just let us be. In times when we are straying from our Earth’s purpose, they will call on us and will get us back on track. This is because one wrong action from us will greatly affect other people’s lives, no matter how small it seemed.
